Story

For tenor, piano, double bass and trumpet

I95 is named after the highway “ I-95”. The song came from a project in the “Composition for non-majors “ where composition students were paired with a member of the creative writing department. The writer provided a text or poem to which we would set to music. I was paired with Fiora Elbers Tibbits and the song was originally for voice and piano. However, in January 2013, Walnut Hill approached me with a comission for their Gala and asked me to arrannge the piece for tenor, piano, double bass and trumpet. I worked closely with each of the instrumentalists and the singer and the final result was really pleasing. The performance at WGBH studios in Boston went very well and I have very fond memories of the process.
